BMW Tuning With Turbo Kits – Pros and Cons
Posted on 22 January 2012 | 0 comments

I am tired of reading topics where people ask how to add more horsepower to their vehicle. These guys don’t even bother to read something regarding that topic. They want to be spoon fed! That’s why I am “taking my spoon” out of the drawer. I am going to briefly explain how to overcharge a car and give you a few hints on the basic skills you are going to need
Let’s start with the easiest way to overcharge a car- the so called turbo kits. As we all know, everything that looks easy and promises quick results has some kind of a catch. Turbo kits are no exception, they’ve got a few disadvantages too.
Bmw Turbo kits pros:
As I already said, turbo kits are the easiest way to boost the engine’s power with up to 90%. However, not all kits do the job as they should. The most important thing to look for when choosing a kit is its manufacturer. I am sure that most of you don’t expect that buying a turbo kit for $400 will result in 250-300HP under the hood. Cheaper kits give us less HP and increase the possibility of engine malfunction. I’ll be posting another thread about that in a few weeks. I’ll write about a kit which has been tested a number of times from qualified professionals. The turbo kit comes with all necessary parts and a complete manual. You will even be able to build it by yourself!
Bmw Turbo kits cons
Turbo kits are easy to install, but they have a lot of disadvantages. They are usually made for a specific engine type and the official data about the extra juice they are going to give you are well above the real results. Another disadvantage is that every kit is designed to boost the engine with an exact amount of HP. If you decide later on to get even more power, you are going to need a new kit. This also means that when faced with a turbo kit malfunction, you will need to buy an entirely new one.
Handmade turbo kits
It may seem weird, but making a turbo kit by your own is not that difficult. You just need some basic technical knowledge and a little bit of time. If you read this article carefully, you will be more than capable of building a kit all by yourself. There are three basic steps:
1. Choosing an engine
2. Choosing a turbo kit type
3. Assembling and mounting all the parts together
